The West Wirral Beavers Picnic and Sports Day was a big success.  We were very fortunate with the weather and if anything things got a little too hot!

Some Beavers still had lots of energy left.

Awards and Presentation Evening

We had a good turn out for this Awards evening.

Some brief reports were given to the parents on all the activities and events the groups had taken part in this year.  We were also pleased to announce that our Beaver group had won Best Beaver Colony for West Wirral.

Ken Jones presented the awards for the Beavers and Richard Tremlow presented for the Cubs and Scouts.

All of our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts walked away with some award or gift and we hope all of them feel proud of their achievements.

We would like to thank Thornton Hall and Merseytravel for donating vouchers for our raffle, and Sainsburys Upton for donating refreshments for this event.  This was much appreciated.

Everyone deserved a round of applause.

Beavers at Upton Police Station

dscf1101dscf1104

The Beavers had a great trip to Upton Police Station.  They were given lots of information about all the things that police can do to help us.  The different uniforms they wear, the different departments of the police i.e. dogs and horses.  A few even got to try the handcuffs, hats and jackets on.  They were also allowed on the police van and we had the siren on.

The Beavers really enjoyed their visit and we finished the evening in McDonalds.

We would like to thank PC Mandy Hamilton and PCSTO Linda Sillitoe for a great visit.

Never enough Hammers!

All the hard work done

All the hard work done

Back in March the we had a great time building bird-boxes, it was an incredible achievement to get over thirty boxes built in just a single session. All the cubs and scouts were able to build the boxes themselves and had great fun using a hammer, this was without doubt the noisiest session we have ever had. We managed to borrow 6 hammers from some of the parents, and wish we had more. But the cubs and scouts really worked well together sharing the tools and helping each other to build their boxes. Lets hope that some lucky local garden birds have raised some young courtesy of Overchurch & Upton Scouts.
