Remembrance Day 2011

I was so very proud of our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.  They all looked very smart and behaved so well.  I don’t know what else I can say except Well Done.

We have the Beaver Christmas Craft Day taking place on the 12th November.  This is at St Chad, Irby starting at 10am and finishing at 3.30pm.  Please remember to bring a packed lunch.

Sunday 13th November is the Remembrance Day Parade.  We are meeting at the shops on Arrowe Road at 10.15pm.  We will march to Upton Library and then march to St Josephs.  Please remember to hand in your permission slips to Inga.

Bowling Session 19th July 2011

Beavers bowling

As it was our last session before the summer break we decided to go bowling.

The Cubs had a little more experience than the Beavers.  This was evident when some of the Beavers thought it was a good idea to bowl over-arm!!

I think everyone had a great time, and it was a great way to finish.

Arrowe Park Visit 12th July 2011

Adding New Beavers

Both Beavers and Cubs had a visit to Arrowe Park on the 12th July.  We invested two of our Beavers before we set off on our nature ramble.

We had a questionnaire to complete as we went round and also a sheet to help us recognise the different leaves.  At the end of the walk we had a little picnic and finished with some team games.

We like the summer :)

Viking Weekend June 2011

The Beavers and Cubs were able to attend the Viking Weekend at Hadlow Fields.  This was a West Wirral District event were lots of different groups from across the Wirral attended.

We were able to go along for the day and experience all the things on offer,  laser shooting, large puzzles to solve, woggle making.  We were able to hold snakes, lizards and owls.  The vikings there were great.  They told us all about how the Vikings lived, farmed, weaved and of course fought in battles.

The day was brilliant, unfortunately the weather was not!  At the end of the day we were all very wet, tired and happy that we had attended. :)

Hoylake Life Boat Visit

On the 13th March 2011 the Beavers and Cubs visited the Hoylake Life Boat Station.  We heard all about the history of the station and the brave work that all the people there do.  We were also able to present them with a cheque that our group had been able to raise.

Whilst there two Beavers were invested.  It was a great day and we would like to thank all those at the Life Boat Station.

welcome

Welcome,

What a busy few weeks we have had, We our certainly getting the OUT in the scouting, We have attended the Viking day at Hadlow, unfortunately the weather wasn’t great but im sure our young people really enjoyed it, I thank both Inga and Diane and the parents who gave up there Saturday to give our young people this experience,

We also last Saturday had a Working day at the Headquarters finishing off with a BBQ, I was so pleased with the work that we got done and I am so greatfull for all the parents and young people lets not for get them, who turned up and gave up free time to help us make the HQ a better Scouting environment.

I have manage to get myself around all the sections and how impressed I was with the programmes that the leaders provide for the young people in your Scout Group, they are really great full for the help that they are receiving but they could always do with more so if you can give a bit of your spare time why not speak to the leaders or myself.

Anyway enjoy your summer if you’re going away and I look forward to everyone’s return in September.

THE BIG ADVENTURE STARTS HERE!!!

Yours in Scouting

Mike Jones
