All Sections of Overchurch Upton Scout Group were represented at the West Wirral District’s St George’s Day Parade on Sunday 21 April in West Kirby.
We met during the afternoon at the grassed area in Orrysydale Road at the rear of the Concourse Leisure Centre, where we began the Parade. All Sections looked very smart and were a credit to our Group in full uniform.
The Parade made it’s way through West Kirby to the sections respective churches:
The Beaver Section at the Methodist Church in Westbourne Road.
The Cub Section at the United Reform Church, at the junction of Meols Drive and Bridge Road.
The Scout Section and Explorer Scouts at St. Andrew’s Church, at the corner of Meols Drive and Graham Road. The service theme was Great Expectations and we were asked to prepare a poster titled ‘We Hope For……….’ Overchurch Upton Scouts were unanimous with their choice of ‘PEACE’, which was echoed in several of the other Groups posters.
After the Church Service’s we paraded back to our meeting point to be officially dismissed. It was at this time our retiring District Commissioner Ken Jones said a few words and his farewells.
Thank you to all Group members who braved the rain for an excellent turn out and it was so nice to see several Parents who joined us too. Many thanks to the flag bearers, prayer readers and others in our Group that were involved in the service. You make us proud to be part of the Scouting Family!
